Our history

ABOUT US

Our company history started with the purchase of the vessel Ovedia in the late 1940s and continued with the establishment of a fish processing plant at Lysnes in Senja. The company’s first expansion came in 1972 with the purchase of a new fish processing plant in Senjahopen, and the young son of Arvid and Olga Nergård, Ole-Arvid, was appointed managing director.

Ole-Arvid Nergård built up the company slowly but surely. By starting new companies, as well as acquiring companies involved in catching, processing and selling fish, the company grew from being a small fish processing plant in Senja into a major player in the Norwegian fishing industry.

Sadly, Ole-Arvid passed away in 2008 after becoming seriously ill in 2006. His family decided to sell their shares in Nergård AS. Following a long process, a new owner, Nergård Holding AS, bought all the shares in late 2010.
